This fire also reminds us how important it is for us, as residents of a high fire hazard severity zone, to take fire-prevention measures and to be prepared in case a fire does break out.
Proper brush clearance is an important part of fire prevention. The LAFD brush page has excellent resources including links for reporting uncleared parcels and requirement specifics.
Effective measures can be taken around your home to make it less of a target. Calfire has some great recommendations for house hardening as well as for fire-resistant landscaping.
Pack a go bag and keep it ready. This video from mysafela.org is geared towards older adults but contains valuable information.
