UPDATES FROM LA METRO for the proposed I-405 Sepulveda Pass ExpressLanes project

Posted on 08/14/21

UPDATES FROM LA METRO -- From the Office of Mayor Garcetti
Metro is conducting an Environmental Impact Report (EIR)/ Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed 1-405 Sepulveda Pass ExpressLanes project. They are exploring ways to improve traffic flow and increase vehicle pass on the 405 through the Sepulveda Pass, which could include adding a dynamically-priced high-occupancy toll (HOT) lane--like the ones on the 110 and 10 Freeways--and/or converting the existing carpool (HOV) lane to a HOT lane. Your feedback is needed on the project alternatives and to identify issues that may need to be addressed.  Please submit comments here or join a virtual meeting.

  • Please Provide your Feedback -- From California Department of Transportation Division of Environmental Planning
  • Metro, in coordination with Caltrans, is initiating an Environmental Impact Report (EIR)/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed I-405 Sepulveda Pass ExpressLanes project. The EIR/EIS will evaluate alternatives to convert the existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to dynamically-priced, high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes, also called ExpressLanes, in the southbound and northbound directions of the I-405 Sepulveda Pass, between I-10 and US-101.
As part of the project’s environmental process, a formal 30-day public scoping comment period has been initiated with the posting of the Notice of Preparation and will run through Wednesday, September 1, 2021. During this period, you are encouraged to submit your thoughts and comments on the alternatives, as well as help identify and inform the issues that may need to be addressed in the environmental process.

Three virtual public scoping meetings will be offered to provide information on the project and solicit public feedback on the project alternatives and issues or concerns with the proposed project. Each meeting will offer Spanish interpretation and will feature the same presentation. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for attendees to provide oral comments during the scheduled meeting time. We will try to accommodate as many comments as possible based on time and capacity constraints. The scoping meetings will be held online on Zoom and may be accessed as follows:
